Debt Management - A Royal Engagement

line

When it comes to debt management, little think that the Royal Family would have much to worry about but, according to a report on Channel 4 News, the Prince of Wales recently had to settle some debt management issues of his own.

The current state of the economy is causing a debt management nightmare for millions of Brits up and down the country but it may come as a surprise to hear that Prince Charles recently had to address a debt management shortcoming that had been hanging over him. All is not as it seems, however, as the debt management issue that the Prince of Wales was suffering was nothing to do with the credit crunch or soaring living costs but was actually relating to a debt stretching back hundreds of years. According to the report on Channel 4 News, Prince Charles paid off a debt of £453.3s which, fortunately, didn’t accrue any interest, as it spans back to 1651 when King Charles II failed to pay for the uniforms to be used by his army.

Debt Management - Money Matters

Whilst Prince Charles will have had no difficulties in meeting his debt management obligations pertaining to the 3 century old unpaid debt, it is not so easy for the millions of consumers up and down the country who are being adversely affected by the financial fallout of the credit crunch and the circumstances that have resulted as a consequence; such as soaring petrol prices and skyrocketing utility bills. Lamentably, for those who are already experiencing significant financial arrears, most experts are predicting that the monetary malaise spanning the country is likely to get worse before it gets any better and it will invariably be people’s debt management plans that are hardest hit.

Debt Management - Taking on Financial Arrears

Obviously, the best way to avoid debt management problems is to not buy things that you cannot afford but it is not always as straightforward as that and most consumers and homeowner’s debt management problems result from an accumulation of factors. However, as the tumultuous economy shows little sign of solidifying, many will endeavour to get their debt management plans back on track during 2008 through schemes such as a debt consolidation loan or seeking expert financial advice.
